Minutes of the Area II Minnesota River Basin Projects, Inc. and the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District. The Area II Minnesota River Basin Projects, Inc. minutes (1978-1987, 1990; 2 folders) documents that nonprofit organization created in 1978 by a joint powers agreement of the 10 Minnesota counties (Blue Earth, Brown, Cottonwood, Lac Qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Pipestone, Redwood, and Yellow Medicine) that encompass the Area II portion of the Minnesota River watershed. The project's purpose is to provide financial and technical assistance to the member counties for the planning, design, and installation of floodwater retarding/retention projects. The program receives an annual allocation from the state which is administered by the Board of Water & Soil Resources and matched at 25 per cent by the member counties. The minutes of the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (October 1991, November 1992; 1 folder), document the district created under enabling legislation in 1967 and governed by a Board of Directors composed of one member appointed by the City Councils of the 14 cities surrounding Lake Minnetonka. The board reviews various license application requests, considers studies of lake issues, takes measures to control Eurasian Watermilfoil and other exotic species, and considers other related lake-management issues. Also the 1997 Administrative Manual for the Minnesota Conservation Act, used in training sponsored by the Board and the Minnesota Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
